Panacea for the hirsutely challenged .....

I've had this trimmer for 2 years now, and what a trouper it's been! I'm one of those evolutionary challenged individuals whom nature forgot when it slowly eliminated fur from teh great apes. It was getting to a point where I seriously considered braiding the unsightly nose hair and perhaps start a new trend a la nose piercing, and call it nostril art. I could claim I was only expressing my artistic side.

My wife got this for my birthday after several bouts of serious sneezing when we were intimate. I have not looked back since. Despite the fact that my sink clogs up with massive amounts of hair this trimmer mows them down and keeps going. Kudos to Panasonic for designing an essential product in every red blooded man's toilet kit!

a good trim

My first effort at facial hair, and I wanted a trim look from the start. This trimmer fits my needs very nicely, the trim guard lets me control beard length easily. The "turbo" mode is also a nice feature. A good product from a trusted company (Remington).

Confusing...

The Good:

Appears to trim just fine. I bought this primarily for a mustache trimmer and it seems to work just fine (only used it once).

The Bad:

When I initially turned it on (with brand new batteries), it ran really fast (and a bit loud - no big deal). However, after about ten seconds, the speed dropped down significantly, but then seemed to hold steady at the lower speed. The metal blades also became quite warm to the touch. What I figured out was it needed oiling! A drop of the supplied oil and the speed went back up and the "warmth" went away too. My guess is this unit was packaged quite awhile ago (it is an older model, isn't it?) and the pre-applied oil must have dried out a bit? It might have been helpful in the instructions to indicate a drop of oil may be necessary prior to first use.

The Confusing:

The unit takes two AA batteries. One (the left one) sits snugly in the bottom of the compartment. The other sits just to the right and on top of the other battery, raised up so the two batteries are diagonal from each another. I initially thought the plastic battery guide on the one end forcing the second battery into this position was misaligned. But it seems to work fine in this diagonal alignment. A simple note in the instructions of the diagonal battery alignment would have been nice.

good, but not great

This is the third Wahl trimmer that I have. This one does the job, but somehow this model does not seem as handy as the other two I have had. It may just be getting used to the attachments, but I don't like these as well.

A good, simple wet-dry shaver

I've been using this product and its very-similar predecessors since the early 80's. I've owned Norelco's (which were scary random hair-yanking machines)and also more-expensive Panasonic wet-dry shavers (which worked as well as this one, or better). For my purposes, though, I keep coming back to this one. I nearly always use this shaver while showering. The advantages of wet-shaving are that the water spray keeps the screen free and clear of accumulation, both short-term and long (I have NEVER had to disassemble these shavers to clean them: if I hold the unit in the shower spray for a moment while it is running, it just does not collect any build-up for me), and the hot water naturally softens my beard so that it cuts easily and closely (this also prolongs the life of the blades and screen). I can shave by feel, rubbing my finger over the area, which also erects the stubble just before the shaver passes over it. I go the the gym frequently, so I keep this compact and durable unit in my gym bag and use it in the shower there. It uses two AA batteries, either standard or rechargeable. I just keep a fresh pair of batteries in the little drawstring bag that comes with it, because they last so long (about 2-3 months of daily use), but give up pretty suddenly when they are finally discharged... so I can quickly and easily swap them out whenever I need to (just be sure to keep the sealed inner workings dry when the case is open or you'll invite corrosion, naturally). I don't expect ANY electric shaver to do it all. I use a disposable blade razor to clean up, especially on my neck, after the shower. I also use olive or almond oil on my skin when it is wet, and this is what I use as a shaving aid, as well. I've never used shaving cream or gels in my life, so maybe the oil/water combo is part of what keeps this unit so free-flushing and clean during use. I usually buy a new unit every year or two, just to have sharp cutters (it's usually more cost-effective than buying just replacement cutters). This shaver is a good, very simple, reliable unit. (Note that there is no sideburn trimmer, per se.)

The nose trimmer is good, won't yank hair unless maybe if the battery is almost dead and the cutter isn't spinning fast enough to cut. I wet the cutting parts with water just before using to provide some lubricity and get it up to speed, and it works very well that way. The cutting head disassembles and reassembles easily for cleaning under running water, keeping it sanitary.

Excellent beard trimmer!

The trimmer works great for my beard and is very easy to keep clean. It may be a little tricky to work around my mustache, but that's just my fault. It offers many beard-lengths to choose from, as well.

Excellent Beard Trimmer - Not 220v Friendly

The Remington MB-200 is as excellent a trimmer as reviewers state. Unfortunately it isn't world class friendly. In fact it's the only gadget I've purchased in years that is 120 volts only. This is surprising given that a trimmer would be a common travel item.

Working well

This Trimmer is working as expected and doing well. It's just a couple of times I used it until now, but is working well. Must see how long it will last. But is good value for money.

Never mind the doubters - Excellent product

I bought one of these about 6 years ago and have loved it from day one. Time was finally catching up on it though, the battery was pretty much useless. I came online to find one just like it. I do not like the style of any of the newer trimmers out there. I found one here and it works great. It's only slightly different/updated from my original.

As far as the comments about the trimmer/guard not staying in position? I have not had this problem with either of the two that I have owned. Maybe they are just pressing WAY too hard.

Does what it should - a good value

I never had a beard before (I'm 75) so I wanted a trimmer that would let me control the length and shape of my facial hair. I checked reviews of the Philips Norelco T970 trimmer and they were very good, but not uniformly excellent. My experience has been that the trimmer was underrated - it's outstanding in every sense - does what it's supposed to do very well, has easy and useful controls and is no noisier than an electric shaver. I'm delighted with it!

Great no snag shadows

This works great for that 5 o'clock shadow. I use it for that a couple of times a week for that and haven't recharged it yet so not worried about pluggin in the charger all the time. Cheap stand. Can't vouche for the other attachments or features. Wish it had the vacuum the Norelco has.

Great design. Great function. I do not use any of the attachments. Just the raw trimmer.

Works amazingly easy. Just swipe your stubble every 1-2 days for that constant 5-o'clock shadow look. Works better than any others i have used. Great for Stubble Trimming

As other reviews have pointed out, the plastic attachments for this aren't the greatest. The first and only time I attached one, it didn't even completely attach.

However, this is perfect if you just want to trim yourself down to the 5 o'clock shadow look like myself using the bare trimmer. In fact, this trimmer gave me a more even trim than I've even gotten with razors. Razors are really irritating to my skin but using this trimmer without any attachments felt fine.

Personally, I didn't *want* a ton of attachments because I knew I wouldn't use them. Making this trimmer perfect for me. In case you haven't read other reviews, it is rumored to have excellent battery life as well, but I haven't had the trimmer long enough to test this myself.

Best cheap beard trimmer out there

At $10 you can't go wrong. If you want a razor close shave, buy a razor. This beard trimmer is light weight, easy to use, and works on common AA batteries. I have one that I have been using for 6+ years. Batteries last for several months, it is easy to clean and gets the job done fast and cleanly.

Worth it for the price and convenience

It's not a total piece of crap. I wouldn't use this as my daily trimmer but I keep it in my drawer at work and use it for those days we go out partying after. I didn't have problems with it pulling my hair. It's cheap and easy to use. The battery operation aspect is cool too.

Big nose.

Well I have one.

Top that off with black hair.

So every once in a while I need a small makeover.

It works but you must spend like 20 minutes moving it around

to get them all.

So I am not that happy with it.

But doesn't eat the battery.

Beard shaper not really a great trimmer

First off, this seems to be a great product if you are looking for a beard shaper, but I am a little dissappointed with the trim ability. Non of the attachments are very short. I like my gotee pretty short, just above the stubble stage and it seems like the attatchments go from stubble to pretty long. Maybe I have not messed around with it enough to know all the secrets but so far only very little or a lot of hair on the chin.

The motor is strong and it trims well. Also like the cord/cordless feature. It is a sturdy model.

I have used this to shave my head several times in the shower. It works great.

Doing its job smoothly...!!

Tried a couple of non-panasonic brands and decided to come back. This one works smoothly. Can go as short as 0.04" without a problem. A bit wider than I thought and that's why the 4 stars.

Without some hair in your nose and ears, you increase your chances of inhaling irritants and contracting disease, but your grooming needs are worry free with the ER421KC. Panasonic has also designed this trimmer with a safety cone that guides hair into the blades and protects the skin from direct contact with the rotary trimming system.

To properly use your trimmer, turn it on and carefully insert the tip of the outer blade into your nostril or ear canal to trim the hairs. Do not insert the device deeper in your ears or nose than the narrow tip of the outer blade, and avoid applying pressure when using the trimmer because you could run the risk of damaging your skin. If used once a week and properly cleaned, the ER421KC blades should last approximately three years. To properly clean your trimmer, remove the outer blade frame by turning and raising it upward. Detach the inner blade from the outer blade, and wipe them off gently with a tissue to remove hairs, dust, and other debris. Be sure to that the switch is turned off before removing, mounting, or cleaning the blades.

The ER421KC is easy to clean because the whole unit can be washed in warm water. Be sure to wipe off any excess water and allow the blades to dry completely before mounting them back onto the trimmer body. Remounting the blades is a breeze -- simply place the inner blade back onto the outer blade, and then place the outer blade onto the body by pushing down gently and twisting clockwise.

This thing works great. Does not pull any hairs at all. Could have done without the light, but I didnt buy it for the light. I bought it to trim my nose hair and it does a great job. Nice and easy to clean as well. Just take a couple pieces apart, wipe them down, run them under some water, dry them and you are done. I highly recommend. Fast, painless and easy to clean. Exactly what I was looking for.

Fourth type of nose hair trimmer tried

I tried two no name brand nose hair trimmers which lasted for a total of around a year. Did the job, barely. I wasn't very dissapointed when the second one broke, I decided to spend some money and buy the Turbo-Groomer. It lasted a year and a half and would sometimes not run, you would have to open it up to get it to move. It broke so I bought this. Not expensive, quiet, works very well, I've had it about a week so far, not sure about longevity but I would recommend it.

Great little product

This thing does what it says it does, has three cutting attachments to hit any angle you need, and nearly zero instructions to confuse the heck out of you. Very, very straightforward and easy to use product. If you are looking to spend very little money for very good value, this is a product worth your time and cash.

Totally happy

I used a Sharper Image Trimmer prior to the Remington HPNE-3000 and find the latter to be far superior. It is very ergonomic in size and shape and does a better job and the various heads add to its versatility.

Degrades over time.

At first, I liked the Norelco Vacuum trimmer quite a bit--it was nice to have all the hair vacuumed up as I trimmed my beard. However, it's degraded over time. I'm not sure whether the blades dulled out very quickly, but after six months of use, it requires many, many passes to trim to the desired length. I did not have this experience with my previous trimmer and I will be looking for a new trimmer soon--retiring this one after less than a year of service.

Very well worth my money!!

good product, poor instructions

I had to figure out how to orient the trimmer relative to my face, but once I did it worked very nicely.

I can't do without it

For over 5 years I've owned a Wahl Trim n Vac. I bought mine at WalMart for $49.95 back then. It has been well worth the price. I get an excellent full beard and mustache trim, and very little hair escapes the vacuum.

Prior to my Trim n Vac, I owned beard trimmers from Schick and Norelco. The difference is like night and day. There was hair all over the sink with the other models, and the trim wasn't anywhere near as good.

After 5 years of being shuttled between my home and hotels or apartments, the charger now has stopped working. I considered either ordering a new charger from Wahl or purchasing a new Trim n Vac from the Wahl outlet store. That is, until I found that Amazon sells a new Trim n Vac for $19.99. Incredible.

I highly recommend this product. I have read the other reviews and seen the complaints. Take it from me, a long time user. This product should be appreciated for the excellent trim that it gives you and the mess that is avoided. There is no other product on the market that provides the quality trim and vacuum feature. It is well worth the reduced price that Amazon offers.

That's a nice little device. My husband likes it. But he said there no vacuum at all. I don't think that is a defect.

Does the Trick

It's hard for me to wax poetic about a nose hair trimmer. I will say that it does what advertising says it will do. I like the vacuum feature. This is a step up from the cheaper, smaller trimmers and worth the extra bucks.

Cuts closer than the Panasonic ER411 which lasted about a year before it fell into the sink and broke the catch that holds the cover the cutter blades. Seems to be much better quality.

Clean, but not close

The vacuum feature is very helpful, but I think it keeps you from getting a true #1 trim on the beard. I had a titanium without the vac that broke, so I thought this would be an upgrade. Works well, but could be better.

Nice little trimmer

Works good, doesn't pull hair, easy to use. The finishing of the plastic body is a bit crude but that doesn't affect the performance of the trimmer. Works on 2 AA batteries so no need to worry about electric points, cord lengths, recharging etc. Very convenient. no complaints.

Great for "Manscaping"

Like the title says, I use this for manscaping the squid and boys. Works great for this. Never had a cuttage problem to date!!!

Compact, effective, durable, but short battery life

Bought one around 2002 and I'm happy to say it still works to this day, but the charge only lasts about 3 minutes and the blades move very slowly. I recall it starting to lose its charge around the third year, and so I looked for another one but could no longer find it in stores, and at that time I wasn't into Internet shopping, so I settled for a Wahl 9918 (after trying/returning 15 or so others), which still works perfectly do this day, but is not suitable for trimming/evening out hair on the head, legs, arms, chest, etc, plus you need the chord to recharge it. The Pansonic is very compact, has a super, easy-to-use depth gauge and has a built-in plug, making it simplier to use. It seems others have had problems with the charge too, and I think with this new one I'm going to avoid keeping it plugged in the majority of the time, as that may have over-burdened it and shortened its life span. I ordered four so I'd have a few backups in case they ever discontinue this, which I'm sure they eventually will. I've tried them all, and this is the best around for trimming applications.

The best clipper I've ever used

I've been cutting my own hair for years and have been disappointed with consumer grade hair clippers and so decided to buy the Oster Classic 76 combo (Finisher). These clippers are used by old school barbers and work great. I expect to be using this one for years to come.

Awesome

This thing cuts my hair like it is melted butter...I have tried and tried brands from Target or Wal-mart but nothing cuts my hair in the first run...I would usually end up wearing out my scalp by the number of times I would have to go over it with the cheap clippers...All old news now. These are awesome clippers. If you want salon quality hair you need salon quality clippers...nuff said.

Oster 76 + T-finisher combo

Ask any barber what the "old standby" clipper is, and they will almost invariably say it is the Oster 76. Let me caveat this by saying that I am NOT a barber, I do NOT play one on TV, but I DO have a couple decades worth of experience with clipper cuts. Prior to this purchase, I think I have officially run the proverbial gamut with regard to clipper sets. From the $25 el-cheapo sets to $100+ cordless units; from Andis to Wahl, this one outperforms them all by a long shot.

Now, I'm not going to over-inflate this review, as there are some drawbacks to this set. First is the size (diameter). If you are a young person, a small person, or if you just have dainty little hands, this may be a bit of a challenge for you to get a comfortable grip on. The second issue is the weight. For the previously-mentioned folks, finessing this instrument may pose somewhat of a challenge. It isn't overly-heavy, it's more of a cumbersome device.

On the other hand, what this indicates to me is that inside the virtually unbreakable casing, one can expect to find a workhorse power plant. I hear that next year they are planning to produce a twin-turbo diesel model with a rear bagger, and a hedge clipper attachment. OK, so that part is a lie, but it does make a good segue to my last point: The noise. I like it; it says "quality" to me. You may find it overkill, but it is by no means as cacophonous as some others have made it sound.

The best feature of these clippers is the quick-change blades. They literally snap right on - no need to unscrew the old, align and screw on the new! They are also very high quality, and stay relatively cool, even after prolonged use.

The T-finisher is a solid item too. If you don't need it, don't bother though. Buying the combo saves you money, but the 000 blade (included with the 76) will do the same thing as the "T". I have found that for tight trimming, the Wahl Peanut does a great job.

I'm glad I got this combo, and I hope this review helps you decide what to get. I also understand that the Oster Fast Feed Clipper is a pretty nice set. Panasonic ER112BC

Great little product. Although it rattles a little when you turn it on, it works well.

Great for nose, worthless on ears

As other reviews state, this Panasonic ER112BC works great on nose hair. No pulling or pain. However, I have found it useless for ear hair and will have to buy another product for that. I have found that the long flat-blade style trimmers (instead of the rotary trimmers like this one) work best on ear hair.

Durable and works as advertised.

I've had the practically identical ER115 version (wet/dry washable) for many years, probably around 5 or 6. First off, this thing is built like a tank for what it is. Very solid plastic, and the movable parts like the cap for the battery and the on/off switch have a precision, quality feel that is usually absent with [..]grooming products. I've dropped it more times than I'd like to admit, and it there's not even a scratch on it, plus it works almost as well as when new. It's great for ear hair, which seems to grow faster the older I get...I find I use it at least 3-4 times a week to keep well-groomed. It also works for nose hair, which I guess is its main function, but I find that if the battery isn't really fresh, it slows down a bit and can pull hard on a hair instead of cutting it(ouch-but I've never drawn blood)...but then again, this thing IS about 6 years old and the blades have never been sharpened. I seem to recall that the manual that came with it suggested replacing the unit like after 2 years (anyone else read that?)but I've gotten a lot of use out of this little sucker!

Great little clipper!!

This is so very handy. I am basically bald. I use a $100 Andis clipper with a #1 cutting guide for the sides. The Peanut is the perfect for the final touches. My wife says the Peanut allows her to give my head the "perfect horse shoe."

Nice Moustache Trimmer

This trimmer does a good job with trimming my moustache. When the barber trims my moustache, he trims the line of my moustache and also thins it out so that it is not bushy. The accesories that come with this trimmer allow me to do exactly what the barber does, first thin the moustache, then trim the lines of the moustache. This trimmer is comfortable in my hand and it gets the job done without nicking my lip. I recommend it.

Decent...gave me 5 years of service

This has been a reliable trimmer for my beard and mustache. Eventually my toddler dropped it one too many times, and the height adjuster doesn't stay above 4. Even that would be ok for my current style, but the battery is practically dead, so every week I need to charge it all day and night just to get one use out of it.

I'm seriously considering buying this model again if I don't go for the Philips Norelco T780 Rechargeable Vacuum Trimmer instead.

Missing Features and Poor Performance

I bought two of these (T765) trimmers last holiday - one for home and one for travel. For nearly a year, I had been looking high and low for replacements to my previous Philips / Norelco beard trimmers at the department stores: Macys and Dillards only seem to stock the styles with the excessively large bases used for cleaning the trimmer and storing attachments; obviously for travel, these cumbersome styles are useless.

This particular trimmer (#T765) does not cut as sharply and cleanly as my previous model; the lack of a sideburn trimmer and travel pouch is both annoying and disappointing.

My advice: please review all features when shopping for trimmers and read multiple reviews for both positive and negative feedback - judging what is important for you: not cutting sharply and cleanly is a MAJOR issue; not having a sideburn trimmer is frustrating; and missing a travel pouch is annoying but using a plastic sandwich baggie works fine for travel and storage.

Norelco beard trimmer works well

I got this trimmer to replace another Norelco trimmer which had broken. I have been pleased with both of them. They do a good job for me, and I am pretty particular about the way my beard looks. My first one had a vaccuum feature which caught most of the whiskers, and I liked that better than this one, which has no vaccuum. Overall, i'm happy with this one, though.

Comparing Oster, Wahl and Andis clippers

(June, 2008). I am completely satisfied with the Oster Fast Feed clipper. It works perfectly, has minimal vibration and noise. It has no case, but the accessory guides fit and seem well made. I was able to get mine for less than $50, shipping included.

Here are some general observations about buying clippers for reliable long life use. I needed a clipper to cut my (mens) hair fairly short. I researched the Wahl, Andis and Oster brands.

The least expensive Wahl unit that seems to be currently made (assembled?) in the US and that consistently gets good reviews is the ChromePro. Some of the HomePro units get terrible reviews. I suspect the manufacturing of this line has recently moved overseas because some of the older HomePros models were well reviewed.

The same seems to be true of Andis; some less expensive units get mixed reviews and the better-rated and more expensive units are US made.

The Oster Azteq is made in China and has some negative comment about insufficient cutter travel. The Fast Feed and Salon Pro are the least expensive Osters with good reviews and, you guessed it, made (assembled?) in the US.

I think, at this time, my recommendation regarding clippers is to seek out an American made product.

Technically Wahl has the least expensive product to meet these criteria, but I have been using Oster clippers on my horses for years. Some of these units are 30 years old and still going strong, so I decided to pay another $20 to get the Fast Feed.

You probably will need guides that restrict the length of hair that can be cut. I felt I needed at least a #4 (1/2"), #3 (3/8") #2 (1/4") and #1 (1/8" aka blend) guide. The clippers themselves have a built in guide that adjusts to provide the smaller sizes (000 to 0 or "shave" to 1/16th). If you are styling longer hair then you will need more guides. It makes sense to buy the guides at the same time as the clippers. All clippers should include oil and a cleaning brush. You will also need good scissors.

If you are unsure about home hair cutting go to Google and search videos "how to cut hair". You can add in "Men" and "Self". There are many very informative videos on the subject. Some are pretty funny, too.

Good Sturdy Set of Clippers

It's immediately clear when you hold these clippers, that they're high quality. The power cord is meaty and has a 3-prong plug, the blades are stout and sharp, and while not heavy, they have a nice solid feel to 'em.

The height adjuster seems to allow about twice as much movement as any other clippers I've used - good for getting tapers nice and even for guy's cuts. There's no adjustment knob to keep the blade chatter down, which I like, since I've always been annoyed by trying to keep the blades quiet while cutting. On the noise front, these don't make half as much noise as any other clippers I've used. Just a nice low hum, which sounds powerful to me - like they're V8 powered.

Excellent clippers

I have been cutting my hair and beard for about 14 years with a model of clippers from Oster that had been discontinued, so I needed a replacement. I tried the Aztec clippers and they weren't good at all (pulled hair and hesitated when cutting quickly), so I tried these clippers.

The Fast Feed clippers are excellent and don't pinch, pull or hesitate when cutting hair. I am completely satisfied with these clippers, except that they do not cut skin close like the associated T-finisher trimmer. I use both the Fast feed clippers and the trimmer and I'm happy with them both.

Does Not Come With 110 to 220V Charge Adapter

Great trimmer. Nothing more to add from previous reviews except that AC adapter is only designed for 120V/60 Hz. If you live or travel to countries with 220V/50 Hz then you will need to bring a converter or be able to get back to USA before charge is gone. I could not find anywhere that AC adapter was only 120V. I have bought other trimmers that were designed for international travel.

Happy I Found It

I was missing my beloved and much-lamented Norelco T990, whose batteries would no longer hold a charge after 4 or 5 years of faithful service. After being told that they cannot be replaced, I bought a Conair trimmer with a bunch of attachments that did everything except trim my beard and moustache. This Remington MB300 is so much like my old Norelco, that as soon as I saw it, I knew that I could toss the Conair. This is such a simple and easy-to-use machine. I do not know why Norelco stopped making theirs, but I am grateful to Remington for stepping up.

Works Great for Me!

This trimmer works great for me, which is to trim my fu beard once a week. The buttons aren't in the best places, but it works, works fast, and also works either plugged in or on battery. So someday when the battery no longer works you can still get years of service with it plugged in.

What can I say? The clippers are excellent. The blades are sharp, and the clipper body feels heavy duty. That's probably the only minor negative is that the clippers are heavy, but this property is an obvious testimony to its quality.
